History
History of the ACCN

The ACCN spearheaded the movement in
cardiovascular nursing education and gained
attention of all major organizations. One of the
ACCN's co-founders was invited to join a team of
other nursing professionals from thirteen nursing
organizations, to draft a new set of Scope of
Standards of Practice for the cardiovascular nursing
profession. This task was completed in the summer of
2006.

In 2006 the Marriott Heart Foundation (MHF) was
formed. Its sole purpose is cardiac education for
physicians, nurses, and nurse practitioners. A
partnership has been forged between the ACCN and
MHF, naming the ACCN as the Nursing Counsel for
MHF.
